How it all started…

In 1980 my dad, Dan Shoemaker, made the leap from beef cattle to bison with his first purchase of 3 bison. I transitioned into ownership during college and took full control and responsibility in 2013. My dad still works on the farm and ranch today doing what he loves. I married my beautiful wife, Kathryn, in 2015, and we have three amazing kids: Maci, Jake, and Lexi. As a third-generation Idahoan farmer and rancher, our ranch takes pride in providing high-quality bison to local restaurants and retail stores. At Shoemaker Bison Ranch, our top priority is producing all-natural, healthy, lean, high-quality USDA-inspected meat. The bison are raised on the family ranch and are fed high-quality grain that we grow and harvest here in New Plymouth, Idaho. We take great pride in raising breeding stock too with genetics from Silver Creek Bison, Snyder land, Browns Bison, Gold Trophy Show and Sale, and the Western Bison Association show and sale.
